Chauncey Flynn was born on the family ranch just east of Chinook, Montana, on August 2, 1900, the second of three children of John and Minnie Flynn. Originally the Flynn Brothers Ranch was primarily a horse operation, but in later years became exclusively a Hereford ranch. Chauncey became an airplane pilot in the 1920s. He was a pilot for the U.
